WHAT ARE CEREC SAME-DAY CROWNS?

CEREC stands for Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics. It’s the technology that lets us design, mill, and place a custom ceramic crown right here in our Sugar Land office — start to finish, in one appointment. Traditionally, getting a crown meant two visits: one to prepare the tooth and take an impression, then a one-to-two week wait while an outside lab fabricated the crown, wearing a temporary in the meantime. CEREC removes that wait entirely.

HOW THE SAME-DAY PROCESS WORKS

After numbing the tooth and surrounding gum tissue, we remove any decay and reshape the tooth to receive the crown. From there, it is a simple 4 step process:

  1. Digital Scan — Instead of a messy, uncomfortable impression, we take a digital scan of your tooth using CAD/CAM technology, creating a precise 3D model on screen.
  2. Custom Design — Your crown is designed chairside to match the size, shape, and color of your natural teeth.
  3. In-Office Milling — Using our CEREC Primemill unit, we mill your crown from a solid block of high-quality ceramic, right in the office. This step typically takes under an hour.
  4. Fit and Place — Once milled, we check the fit and make any adjustments, then bond the crown into place using advanced adhesive techniques.

You walk in with a damaged or decayed tooth and walk out the same day with a permanent, natural-looking restoration.
